BOARD ELECTION 2023

Michael J Beck, Jr. (AS ’10, BS ’19)

Michael is a 25-year veteran law enforcement officer with Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office where he has received multiple Distinguished Service Awards and Life Saving Medals.  He currently serves the community as Captain of the Patrol Division.  He is a 2020 graduate of the National Command and Staff College and a 2017 graduate of Leadership Lafourche. Mike is heavily involved in community events and his most recent endeavor is participating in the Police Unity Tour – a 250 mile bike ride across Virginia to Washington DC in an effort to raise money for officers killed in the line of duty. Mike has served as a Little League coach, Boy Scout Leader, and currently is a CrossFit Coach.  Mike believes in true public service and will work diligently to serve the needs of the Alumni Association. While at Nicholls, he was a non-traditional student while he worked as a full-time law enforcement officer for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. He served as a member of the Criminal Justice Committee. He is also a National Youth Challenge Mentor and a current member of the Nicholls State University Alumni Federation Board of Directors.

Dr. Tammy Cheramie (BA ‘90, MEd ’93 & Masters Plus 30-’12)

Dr. Cheramie has a BA in English and Social Studies Education, an MEd in School Counseling and a +30 in English (graduate level), all from Nicholls State University.  She earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Higher Education Curriculum and Instruction from Mississippi State University in 1998 and MLIS/CARST (Academic Librarianship and Archival Studies) from LSU (Baton Rouge) in December 2022. 

While an undergraduate at Nicholls, Dr. Cheramie participated in SGA, RHA, Red and Gray, St. Thomas Aquinas Campus Ministry, Awakening Retreat Team, and Peer Assistance. She was also  selected for Who’s Who for three years. She worked as a staff assistant and resident assistant for Residential Services. As a graduate student in the 1990’s, she was a Graduate Assistant for the English Department and the Provost for Academic Affairs. While working on graduate hours from 2010-2012, Dr. Cheramie worked for Auxiliary Services, creating and coordinating the Tresors du Bayou Cultural Education Program for the Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival until the festival was discontinued.  Dr. Cheramie has served on and off as needed as an adjunct instructor of English, teaching on campus and online from 2012 to 2020. 

Dr. Cheramie has also served as a teacher, counselor, and administrator in public and Catholic schools and worked as a counselor at an in-patient alcohol and drug addictions treatment center. She currently teaches for Lafourche Parish Schools as the ELA 7 teacher at East Thibodaux Middle School and coordinates the after school tutoring program.  She is a member of the Catholic Daughters at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux where she is a parishioner. She has served as a past Alumni Federation Board member for two terms, working on the communications and scholarship committees, volunteering at various alumni functions on and off campus, and representing alumni in the community. 

Stacy Himel Guillot (BS ’10)

Stacy is currently a Director of Access to Care for Ochsner Health where she supports several regions including the Bayou Region. She has worked for Ochsner Health, where she has held several positions, for the last six years. Prior to working for Ochsner, she worked for Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. She has served as the Scoreboard Operator, for all Nicholls home football games, since 2009. This is a role she began as a student worker for the Athletic Department Football Office while pursuing her Bachelors of Science in Management degree. Stacy is a current member of the Nicholls State University Alumni Federation Board of Directors.

Amanda C. Matis (BS ’06)

Amanda is married to Bart Matis and they have three children.  Amanda and her family are advocates for teen mental health after losing their son on August 15, 2020.  She currently serves as the Director of the Human Resources Department for the City of Thibodaux and is the founder and former President of Friends of P.A.C.T. Place (Parents and Children Together) supervised visitation center.  While at Nicholls she was a member of the Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society. Amanda is a current member of the Nicholls State University Alumni Federation Board of Directors.

Pamela Harris McCann (BA ‘80, MA ‘84)

Pamela has been an elementary teacher for19 years and an Education Administrator for 15 years.  She received her BA in Elementary Education, a Masters in curriculum instruction and currently holds a Masters plus 30 in educational supervision. While at Nicholls, Pamela was an SGA representative, participated in Greek life, was on the dean’s list, and graduated cum laude and magma cum laude. Pamela is married to Wallace McCann and has two children

Grant Ordoyne (BIS ’15, Med ’18)

Grant is the Coordinator of University Graduate Studies at Nicholls State University. Grant is a current member of the Nicholls State University Alumni Federation Board of Directors, a Black History Month Committee Member, a Keep Nicholls Beautiful Task Force Member, and Faculty/Staff Advisor for Colonels for Kids, Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, and the Nicholls State University Graduate Student Organization (GSO). Within the community, he is also the President of Thibodaux Main Street, a Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, Leadership Lafourche Class of 2018 Graduate, a Bayou Industrial Group Scholarship Committee Member, Youth Formation Mentor, and the Knights of Columbus Council 10800 Grand Knight. While at Nicholls, he was a Nicholls Student Alumni Association (NSAA) Executive Board Member, Student Educators and Leaders (SEALS) Executive Board Member, Student Programming Association (SPA) Executive Board Member, an Education Senator and Committee Chair for the Student Government Association (SGA), a Nicholls Education Association of Teachers (NEAT) Executive Board Member, Colonel Catholics Member, 2013 Homecoming Court Member, Nicholls Green Club Member, Nicholls Worth Advertising Manager, and a 2016 Nicholls State University Hall of Fame Member.  

Dr.  Channing Parfait (BA’13, MAT ’17, PhD 22)

Dr. Parfait is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at Nicholls State University.  He is a former coordinator of clinical practice and residency and a former residency transition coordinator at Nicholls.  Channing is the President of the Lafourche Education Foundation where he also served as Chair for the Inaugural Bayou King Cake Festival.  He is also a board member for the College of Education Alumni Chapter. While at Nicholls, Dr. Parfait was the news editor for The Nicholls Worth and the President for the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Meagan Rousse (BA ’22)

Born and raised in Cut Off, Louisiana, Meagan Rousse is a Graduate Student pursuing a degree in Higher Education. She graduated in Fall of 2022 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and minor in Vocal Music. Meagan is very involved on campus. Currently she is a Supreme Court Justice of the Student Government Association, Student Programming Association Grad Assistant, Co Phi Kappa Phi Vice President, and a member of the Grad Student Organization. She was a member of the 2021 Homecoming Court, Tri Sigma Sorority where she served on the E-Board and held the Music and Mixer Chairs, Orientation Team Member, Marketing and Communication Student Worker, and Choir Member. Besides school, Meagan loves to act and currently serves as the Director of Public Relations and Production Coordinator for Rhodes & Rhodes Productions, reading, and playing with her dog Milo.

Tiffany Lathan Smith (BS ’00)

Tiffany is a 2000 graduate with a BS in Family and Consumer Science.  She is currently the Program Manager of the Howard University College of Pharmacy Center of Excellence in Washington, DC.  Additionally, Tiffany is a second year doctoral student in Higher Education and Leadership Policy Studies at Howard University and is a member numerous professional organizations related to higher education and student affairs such as NASPA, ACPA, AABHE. While at Nicholls, Tiffany became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, Order of Omega, Peer Assistance, Resident Assistant, Student Government Association Judicial Board, Student Programming Association, Orientation Leader and the Nicholls homecoming court. Tiffany is married to Jamil Smith who is a graduate Florida Agirculrtual and Mechanical University who works for Deloitte. 

LaToya B. Williams (BA ’98)

LaToya is married to Michael Williams, Sr.  While at Nicholls, LaToya was the Cheerleading Captain, SGA Senator-at-Large/Director of Public Relations, Orientation Leader, Millet/Zeringue Hall Director, President of Xi Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a member of the Order of Omega, and a Hall of Fame recipient.  Currently, LaToya is a member of the Nicholls State University Alumni Federation Board of Directors.  She is employed at The National World War II Museum as the Director of Teaching and Learning.  She is also a member of the New Orleans Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
