About Us
Since the time of its charter in 1961, the Nicholls State University Alumni Federation has sought to foster, protect, and promote our institution’s welfare and strengthen the ties between the university and our alumni. By continuing to keep in touch with our alumni, we feel that we can have a stronger and more viable organization that will help to promote our goals.
One of the Alumni Federation’s most important programs is funding scholarships for our students. Each year the Alumni Federation awards four Alumni Federation scholarships to upperclassmen who meet the criteria of at least 30 hours of semester credit and a 3.0 grade point average. The students are awarded $800 for the fall and spring semesters. In addition, the Alumni Federation awards the Clift Gresham Memorial Scholarship to a student enrolled in the College of Business who has at least 30 hours of credit and a 3.0 grade point average. This award is also for $800 for the fall and spring semesters. The F. Smith Knobloch Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the criminal justice curriculum. The amount of this scholarship is $350 dollars per semester. The Todd & Susan Lawson Scholarship is awarded to a full time student majoring in agriculture. The amount of this award is $500 for the fall and spring semesters.
The Alumni Federation also awards four scholarships to incoming freshmen under its program entitled “Alumni Federation Scholar/Leader Award.” It is awarded to an incoming freshman who has at least a 20 on his or her ACT score and a 3.25 grade point average.
In addition to our scholarship program, $4,000 a year is donated to the Tutorial Center to assist in tutoring our students.
Each year, the Alumni Federation sponsors trips to at least one football game. All major events of Homecoming are sponsored by the Alumni Federation including a golf tournament, tennis tournament, a buffet and reception for alumni.
